It’s back! No ratings yet.

FINALLY the day has come! Champions League is back and best football clubs will lock horns to earn the games ultimate prize; best on the continent!

Additionally my writing begins!

My name is Dejan and like you I’m a football enthusiast. As it’s often said “I live, eat and sleep football”. While having my first morning coffee I surf the sites dedicated to football, during lunch time and coffee breaks at work I discuss football with my colleagues.

The blog will be dedicated to my views, predictions and reviews on current football matters and what better way to start then Champions League!

Group A:

Balanced group with Atletico the favorites and Borussia and Monaco battling for second place with the Germans in better position based on domestic league standing. Last season Atleti had a similarly balanced group and ended 3rd with right to compete in Europa League which they eventually won.

Even if international success is always sweet this time they won’t settle for the “ugly sister” especially after finally winning against Real in international competition. The Belgians will prove very stern opposition particularly in their own backyard and will punish anybody who underestimates them.

Club Brugge vs Borussia Dortmund

The Belgians are a solid side and playing in front of their supporters they have some chances for a positive result but Borussia should prove too strong for them and won’t let the chance of a good start go past them.

Monaco vs Atletico Madrid

Atletico’s shaky start to domestic competition and already 7 points of the pace means they’re still of form but Monaco is in even worse situation. Between 2 sleeping giants the one with more talent should prevail and the Spanish side definitively has more.

Group B

Similar to group A; Spanish side firm favourite, 2 more or less equal sides and one outsider who has little chance of progressing and a lot to mess somebody’s plans. At the end the Italian side should end up in EL.

Barcelona vs PSV Eindhoven

Barcelona is one of the front runners for final triumph and at least until semi finals will always be favorites in every match. Can PSV take advantage from nothing to lose situation? No.

Inter vs Tottenham

Is there any prediction possible when these two sides play? No, both are capable of the unbelievable in both ways; winning away against championship favorites and losing at home to newly promoted. Anyway the London club appears in better form and should take at least a point from this.

Group C

This group has only 1 thing certain; the last Champions Cup winners having 0 chance. Everything else is possible and whoever gets 3rd place will be disappointed. This time PSG has real possibility to be even more disappointed then in the last few CL .

Crvena Zvezda vs Napoli

Marakana is a hostile environment and can cause adjustment issues to the visiting side but an experienced manager like Ancelotti won’t pass on the opportunity to start upfront and leave the others chase him.

Liverpool vs PSG

The on form English side are running on all cylinders and the weekend’s away win against other CL club will definitely boast their morale. And Klopp’s side with high spirit is a very dangerous side. If the French champions gets anything out of this will be very happy.

Group D

This group has basically no real outsiders. Anybody has a real shot in every game and this one will go down to the wire. However I can see the Turkish side on the wrong end of the standings come December and the Russians pushing Schalke for second place.

Galatasaray vs Spartak Moscow

Balanced as all the matches in this group but the Moscow side should get something out of this.

Schalke 04 vs Porto

Schalke’s terrible start to the season could have breaking point in this game. Finding the net seams to be the problem but CL football brings special feeling. Porto also has had own struggles in domestic competition with the surprise home defeat against Vitoria Guimaraes last month. This one has a draw written all over with Porto closer to the 3 points.

This is my prediction for today. See you tomorrow for comments and other groups prediction.

Enjoy the beginning!
